June 24th Issue of Greenlane Digest

IN THE NEWS

Greenlane (TSX:GRN) is a pioneer in the rapidly emerging renewable natural gas (RNG) industry. We work with waste producers, gas utilities, and project developers to turn low-value biogas into a valuable low-carbon and carbon-negative clean energy resource. As a leading global provider of biogas upgrading systems, we are helping to clean up two of the largest and most difficult-to-decarbonize sectors of the global energy system: the natural gas grid and the commercial transportation sector.

Greenlane issued the following news release this week:

Greenlane announced results from 2022 AGM of shareholders

Greenlane announced the results from its 2022 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders held on June 22, 2022, in which shareholders approved all matters submitted to them for approval, including re-election of all directors and the appointment of the Company’s auditors.

Greenlane is a pure play in the RNG space, offering multiple core biogas upgrading technologies, in use and proven in the industry today. Biogas upgrading sales are forecasted by industry to grow at a minimum 30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years in North America and Europe. Our demonstrated leadership in biogas upgrading, scope and breadth of product offerings, and over 30 years of industry experience are fierce competitive advantages.

Today, we are a trusted partner globally and are ranked number one in installed capacity, having sold more than 135 biogas upgrading systems into 19 countries and counting. We’ve learned a lot along the way. First to market in 12 of the 19 countries where our systems have been sold, we’re also proud to have supplied the systems for many of the largest RNG production facilities in the world.

A newly formed joint venture (JV) between Chevron and Mercuria Energy Trading, Beyond6 will work to develop a U.S. compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling network supplied with RNG. Chevron and Mercuria purchased American Natural Gas (ANG), a Beyond6 company, and its 60 CNG stations in 17 states across the United States. These stations are being rebranded as Beyond6. The Beyond6 JV is building a large-scale, vertically integrated RNG business and is committed to producing a tenfold increase in RNG volumes by 2025 compared to 2020 with the goal of providing lower carbon solutions for the medium- and heavy-duty vehicle market.

Chevron and bp have been actively ramping up investments in the RNG space. A Chevron subsidiary has inked an agreement to supply Walmart with CNG that will be linked to Chevron’s RNG production across the United States. Two years ago, Chevron partnered with San Francisco-based Brightmark LLC to form Brightmark RNG Holdings LLC, which produces and markets dairy biomethane. Together, Chevron and Brightmark have co-developed 19 RNG projects across the United States, with Chevron purchasing RNG from the projects and marketing the volumes for use in vehicles operating on CNG, according to Brightmark. A dairy RNG project in Iowa owned by Gevo Inc. will inject RNG into the gas pipeline for bp Canada Energy Marketing Corp. and bp Products North America Inc. and is expected to produce about 355,000 MMBtu/year once at full operational capacity, with bp marketing the RNG in California.

Technologies and resources have created possibilities that are causing people to see dairies not as an environmental threat but as an environmental solution. One of those is the production of RNG, which is of growing interest to American consumers, including many who want every fill-up to come with a story of sustainability. Producing milk comes with the potential to produce methane-rich biogas, which occurs when cow manure decomposes. Recovering the methane creates a source of renewable energy for electricity, heating or clean, carbon-negative transportation fuel.
