IN THE NEWS
Greenlane (TSX:GRN) is a pioneer in the rapidly emerging renewable natural gas (RNG) market. We work with waste producers, gas utilities, and project developers to turn low-value biogas into a valuable low-carbon and carbon-negative clean energy resource.
Greenlane is a pure play in the RNG space, offering multiple core biogas upgrading technologies, in use and proven in the industry today. Biogas upgrading sales are forecasted by industry to grow at a minimum 30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years in North America and Europe. Our demonstrated leadership in biogas upgrading, scope and breadth of product offerings, and 30+ years’ industry experience are fierce competitive advantages.
Today, we are a trusted partner globally and are ranked number one in installed capacity, having sold more than 125 biogas upgrading systems into 19 countries and counting. We’ve learned a lot along the way. First to market in 12 of the 19 countries where our systems have been sold, we’re also proud to have supplied the systems for the largest RNG production facilities in North America and Europe, respectively.

The International Gas Union (IGU), with over 160 members from the U.S. to Qatar, recently held its 36th International Gas Congress in Croatia, where members discussed the pressure the natural gas industry is facing from stiff competition with renewables. The IGU, which is a non-profit that advocates for natural gas as an integral part of the global energy system, acknowledged that the global natural gas industry is facing a historic challenge but also has a great opportunity. The IGU highlighted Europe and its efforts in implementing impressive applications of LNG and CNG for coastal shipping, trucking and public transportation, reducing the carbon footprint from diesel and bunker fuel. Over 4,000 natural gas fueling stations are operational and expanding with a growing mix of biogas on offer.
Chesapeake Utilities began making a series of renewable natural gas investments and tie-ups last year. Executives laid out a strategy to integrate RNG into their current business in November 2020 and have recently updated investors about additional RNG investment opportunities.
Ameresco Inc., a leading cleantech integrator specializing in energy efficiency and renewable energy, announced that its landfill gas-to-renewable-natural-gas plant at Republic Services’ McCarty Road Landfill in Houston, Texas has achieved commercial operations. This project creates clean energy while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and contributes directly to Republic Services’ long-term sustainability goal to beneficially reuse 50 percent more landfill gas by 2030.
Kinder Morgan, Inc. announced that it has agreed to acquire Indianapolis-based Kinetrex Energy from an affiliate of Parallel49 Equity. Kinetrex is the leading supplier of liquefied natural gas in the Midwest and a rapidly growing player in the production and supply of renewable natural gas under long-term contracts to transportation service providers.
