Greenlane Product News

On December 3rd, Ryan Hevrdejs, Sales Manager, and Sébastien Provent, Lead Product Manager, will present an educational webinar to discuss how to reduce high H₂S operational costs in biogas and RNG production with our Cascade H₂S solution. Attendees will gain valuable insights as they explore why removing H₂S is critical for regulatory compliance, equipment protection, and cost reduction, and how traditional methods like iron, activated carbon, and bio-filters often drive high OPEX and maintenance challenges.

Biogases Take Center Stage in EU’s 2025 Bioeconomy Strategy

Digest Image

In November, the European Commission published a refreshed Bioeconomy Strategy that officially recognizes biogases — including biogas and biomethane — and their co-products as core pillars of Europe’s sustainable, circular economy. The strategy highlights biogas systems as “biorefineries,” capable of converting organic waste, agricultural residues and sewage sludge into renewable energy, bio-based fertilisers, and captured biogenic CO₂ for further industrial use. This move signals strong political backing for biogas as a viable, scalable alternative to fossil gas, aligning with broader EU goals for climate neutrality, circularity, and resource independence.

For the biogas and RNG sector this is a watershed moment. By formally embedding biogases into Europe’s long-term bioeconomy and industrial strategy, the Commission is helping to create a stable, policy-driven market environment. This recognition not only improves the visibility and legitimacy of RNG/biogas producers, but also enhances demand for upgrading, gas-cleaning, and injection infrastructure — potentially accelerating deployment across Europe.

Canada a Key Market for RNG Despite Shifting Political Tides

Digest Image

Ahead of COP30, a coalition of more than 30 leading industrial and utility companies has formally urged the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol to recognise market-based instruments for renewable gases—including biomethane and renewable natural gas (RNG)—as part of its forthcoming standards revision framework.

As the body currently underpins the emissions accounting practices of 97 % of the Fortune 500, its guidance carries weight across sectors. By explicitly recognising certificates of origin or proof-of-sustainability schemes for gases, the industry argues that investment in low-carbon gas infrastructure can accelerate significantly.

For Greenlane, this initiative signals a pivotal policy shift that could enhance the attractiveness of RNG-driven business models globally. As more corporate players demand traceable, low-carbon gaseous fuels rather than just electricity, the value proposition for upgrading, interconnect, and certified RNG supply chains becomes stronger. The push for interim guidance ahead of the full 2028 revision highlights a near-term inflection point in how renewable gases are valued in decarbonisation portfolios.

Market Reset: Why 2025 Is a Defining Year for the U.S. Biogas & RNG Industry

Digest Image

A November 6, 2025 article highlighted a turning point for the U.S. RNG sector, moving out of rapid expansion into a phase of strategic optimization. Developers are revisiting project economics, investors are demanding clearer risk profiles, and regulators are tightening policy clarity to support long-term growth.

For Greenlane, the shift signals opportunity: with the market stabilizing, demand for reliable, proven upgrading systems and experienced delivery partners grows. This realignment underscores the importance of technology readiness, consistent performance and trusted supply chains as the sector matures.

Latvia Approves Support Scheme for Biomethane Production

Digest Image

On November 19, 2025, it was reported that Latvia’s government approved a new package of regulatory amendments designed to boost domestic biomethane production and strengthen energy independence.

The support programme opens eligibility to both new and existing biomethane producers, signalling a broader European policy trend favouring RNG/biogas pathways. For Greenlane Renewables, this points to emerging market opportunities in Europe where upgrading, injection and interconnect solutions may be increasingly in demand.
