U.S. RNG Supply Potential Reassessed in 2025 Study

A July 10 study from the American Gas Foundation and ICF shows U.S. RNG production potential has increased by 17% since 2019. The updated assessment estimates the country could produce enough RNG to supply all U.S. households currently using natural gas. This translates to a potential reduction of over 300 million metric tons of CO₂ annually if fully realized.

The study reaffirms the scalability and decarbonization benefits of RNG. It also underscores the critical role of investment and policy alignment in unlocking RNG’s full potential. Greenlane sees this growing feedstock availability as a key driver of long-term growth in demand for upgrading infrastructure.

ABC Applauds New Federal Support for Biogas in “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”

On July 4th, the American Biogas Council (ABC) celebrated the signing of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which includes several long-advocated provisions supporting the U.S. biogas industry. The legislation streamlines federal permitting, provides targeted tax incentives, and introduces infrastructure funding for anaerobic digestion and RNG projects. These measures are expected to accelerate project development timelines, lower capital barriers, and increase investor confidence.

ABC praised the bipartisan cooperation behind the bill and emphasized the legislation’s ability to unlock stalled projects and spur nationwide growth in renewable natural gas and biogas infrastructure. With improved regulatory certainty and financial tools in place, Greenlane and other technology providers are well-positioned to help scale clean energy solutions that reduce emissions and enhance energy resilience.
