Congresswoman Scholten Introduces Bipartisan Extension of the Section 48 ITC for Qualified Biogas Properties
Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (D-MI) and Congressman David Valadao (R-CA) introduced the Agricultural Environmental Stewardship Act of 2025 to extend the Section 48 investment tax credit (ITC) for qualified biogas properties.
“Extending the Sec. 48 ITC is common sense,” said Scholten. “If we want to secure America’s green future, we must ensure that producers have the clarity necessary to make critical investments in biogas. My bill would put West Michigan’s agricultural community at the forefront of the clean energy transition while cutting harmful greenhouse gas emissions and lowering costs for families across the country. I’m glad to work with my California colleague, Rep. Valadao, to introduce solutions that support communities across the country.”

Brightmark RNG holdings achieves landmark first gas milestone at 10 Midwest RNG projects
Greenlane customer, Brightmark RNG Holdings LLC, announced today that it has delivered first gas at 10 renewable natural gas (RNG) projects across the Midwest. Brightmark RNG Holdings LLC is a joint venture between Chevron U.S.A. Inc., a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX), and Brightmark Fund Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Brightmark LLC.
With today's announcement, the Brightmark RNG Holdings LLC joint venture now owns and operates 15 RNG projects in the Midwest, a region that generates nearly 43 percent of the nation’s agricultural products.

Will AI help drive demand for natural gas and thus RNG?
AI is an interesting driving force for energy consumption. In this article, Engine No. 1 and Chevron U.S.A. Inc. recently announced the formation of a partnership to build a new company to develop scalable, reliable power solutions for United States (U.S.) based data centers running on U.S. natural gas. Could RNG be part of this path? A great question that time will unveil but great to see new industry developments.
