Greenlane Renewables Surpasses 500 Systems Sold Globally, Expanding Footprint to 32 Countries

~Milestone reflects continued global adoption of Greenlane’s biogas desulfurization and upgrading solutions as it advances towards start of production of its next generation Cascade LF product line~

In February, Greenlane announced it has surpassed a major commercial milestone, having now sold over 500 biogas desulfurization and upgrading systems into 32 countries. This milestone represents a significant increase from the more than 355 systems into 28 countries total disclosed last year, and further reinforces the Company’s long-standing leadership in the global renewable natural gas (“RNG”) and biogas markets.

Greenlane’s growing installed base reflects continued demand for proven and reliable technology platforms supporting landfill gas-to-RNG, dairy and agricultural digesters, and wastewater treatment facilities. Greenlane is committed to advancing the technology frontier with the aim of coming down the cost curve and going up the performance curve to enable RNG project developers and owners, our end-customers, to enhance revenue generating RNG output from their assets while minimizing up front investment, making RNG projects more accessible and scalable.

RNG Coalition welcomes proposed 45Z Clean Fuel Production Tax Credit regulations

The RNG Coalition has welcomed the US Treasury Department's release of proposed regulations for the Section 45Z Clean Fuel Production Tax Credit, as authorised by the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act and amended by last year's One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

"Today's 45Z proposed rule is a positive step towards providing the clarity and certainty that renewable natural gas producers require," said RNG Coalition Senior Director of Federal Government Affairs Geoffrey Dietz. "We thank the Treasury Department and Trump administration for listening to the input provided by industry.

BNDES Approves R$148.5 million for Paraná biomethane plant

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has approved and contracted financing of R$148.5 million (US$9 MIllion) for Bioo Paraná Holding SA to build a biomethane plant in Toledo, in western Paraná. The total investment planned for the project is R$196 million. Of the total amount financed, R$101.5 million comes from the Climate Fund and R$47.1 million from the Finem line, which is aimed at supporting larger projects.

The plant will have the capacity to produce 11 million cubic metres of biomethane per year. According to project estimates, operations will prevent the emission of approximately 80 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent annually. In addition to the environmental benefits, the project is expected to generate 210 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase and a further 90 once operations begin

Reflections from Madrid: Advancing Biomethane with Fundación Naturgy and International Renewable Energy Agency

Last week in Madrid, Karina Navarro, WBA Policy Analyst, joined a dialogue hosted by Fundación Naturgy and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to discuss the current situation, key trends, challenges and opportunities of biomethane, as well as its role in the energy transition.

The session, moderated by Pablo Bronte, editor of Montel Iberia, began with a presentation from IRENA on the current state of the global energy system, with a focus on the dominance of renewable electricity.  James Walker, Renewable Gases Leader at IRENA’s Innovation and Technology Centre, emphasised that to meet 2050 international climate commitments, renewable capacity must triple by 2030 and increase by up to nine times by 2050 relative to 2022 levels. Although the mass electrification scenario is promising, some hard-to-abate sectors can benefit from biomethane as an attractive solution to decarbonise operations. Karina mentioned that “in sectors where direct electrification can be difficult or expensive, such as glass, steel, aluminium, heavy-duty transport or even the maritime sector, biomethane acts as a complement to electrification”.

EPA to Overhaul Clean School Bus Program to Include RNG Among Alternative Fuels

The U.S. EPA on Feb. 19 announced plans to revamp its Clean School Bus program to focus on a wider range of alternative fuels, including renewable natural gas (RNG), biodiesel, renewable diesel and E85. The CSB program was created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021, which provide the agency with $5 billion for fiscal years (FY) 2022-2026 to support the replacement of older, diesel-powered school buses with cleaner models. To date, the program has primarily provided funding for zero-emission battery electric buses, with a minority of awards supporting other technologies, primarily buses fueled by propane or compressed natural gas (RNG).

The EPA has been reviewing and revamping the CSB program in accordance with President Trump’s Executive Order Unleashing American Energy, which was signed on Jan. 20, 2025. The EPA on Feb. 19 opened a public comment period to inform its next steps.
