U.S. Treasury Department and IRS Issue Technical Correction To Sec. 48 ITC Proposal
The U.S. Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently issued a technical correction to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking concerning proposed changes to the Sec. 48 investment tax credit (ITC). The correction is intended to make clear that cleaning and conditioning equipment used in the production of renewable natural gas from raw biogas is eligible for the ITC.

New Mexico Becomes the Fourth State to Pass a Clean Fuel Standard
New Mexico has become the fourth state to pass a clean fuel standard, joining Oregon, Washington, and California. Clean fuel standards are market-based policies designed to reduce carbon emissions while promoting increased investment in producing renewable fuels and vehicles.

2023 was the Third Year of Record Growth Across the U.S. Biogas Industry
The American Biogas Council (ABC) expects the U.S. Biogas industry to continue to grow in 2024 after releasing data indicating a third year of record growth for 2023. Nearly 100 projects came online in 2023 with more than 100 additional projects slated for completion in 2024.

RNG Coalition Urges Michigan State to Hold CFS Hearing
The Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas (RNG Coalition) has urged Michigan lawmakers to conduct a hearing on Senate Bill 275 (SB 275). This Clean Fuel Standard (CFS) legislation is intended to address emissions in the transportation sector, much like the successful CFS program in California.

Southern Company Gas Subsidiaries In Virginia & Tennessee Enter into RNG Agreements for the First Time
Two Southern Company Gas subsidiaries, Virginia Natural Gas and Chattanooga Gas, have entered into RNG agreements for the first time. The states of Virginia and Tennessee have policies that encourage the production and delivery of RNG.
