On August 11 and 12, the Greenlane team spent a busy two days at the 13th Fórum do Biogás at the São Paulo Expo - Latin America's largest biogas and biomethane event. Conversations with attendees centered on solutions for biogas desulfurization and upgrading, and naturally, the team showcased the benefits of the full Cascade product lineup. Greenlane's Commercial Director LATAM, J. Rickard Schäfer, was pleased to join the panel "Technological Development, Operational Efficiency, and Safety in the Biogas Value Chain".

The team is looking forward to another successful exhibition at the RNG Works Technical Workshop and Trade Expo in Milwaukee, WI, on September 15-17, which will include several speaking opportunities.

Canada Invests Nearly $19 Million to Expand RNG Production in Ontario

The Government of Canada is building towards net-zero emissions by 2050, and affordable clean fuel production is key to that goal. By supporting clean energy, the Government of Canada is fighting climate change, strengthening our energy security, and building a stronger, more competitive economy for all Canadians.

The Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, announced a federal investment of nearly $19 million for StormFisher Environmental Ltd., a subsidiary of Generate Upcycle, to expand its facility in London, Ontario. This facility, the London Digester, is the largest food waste anaerobic digestion facility in Canada that produces renewable natural gas (RNG) from municipal source-separated organics and industrial, commercial, institutional food and beverage waste.

ANP Approves Resolution on Specification and Quality Control of Biomethane

Brazil's National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) has approved updated regulations governing the specifications and quality control of biomethane produced in the country. The new resolution consolidates previously separate regulations into a single framework covering biomethane regardless of its feedstock origin.

The updated framework includes revised testing methods and quality-control procedures while introducing greater regulatory flexibility in certain circumstances. ANP specifically noted that the changes are intended to keep Brazil's regulatory framework aligned with the evolution of the country's biomethane market while supporting operational safety. The development represents another important step in the maturation of Brazil's biomethane industry as the country continues to establish the regulatory and commercial framework needed to support future market growth..

India lays the foundations for an industrial biogas economy

India is moving decisively towards building an industrial-scale biomethane economy. 

The catalyst is the new GOBARdhan National Circular Bioenergy Scheme, approved in August with a ₹23,731 crore (around US$3 billion) outlay over 10 years. Its significance lies not only in its scale, but in its breadth. 

GOBARdhan brings agricultural residues, crop waste, animal manure, food and other biodegradable organic wastes into a common framework for producing compressed biogas (CBG/biomethane) and biofertilisers.

New Data Reveals How America’s Biogas is Used Today

Over half of America’s biogas is used for electricity generation, even as the share of America’s biogas is used for electricity generation, even as the share upgraded to renewable natural gas has nearly doubled since 2020, according to new data released today by the American Biogas Council (ABC). The data reflects the current mix of how the U.S. biogas industry is putting captured methane from organic waste to work – producing renewable electricity, renewable heat, and renewable natural gas (RNG) for use in the nation’s natural gas system.

Biogas is a renewable methane-rich gas produced when organic materials such as manure, food scraps, wastewater solids and landfilled waste naturally decompose. Biogas systems capture this gas before it escapes into the atmosphere and convert it into electricity, heat, or RNG, while recycling the remaining nutrients into natural fertilizer products.

TUI Cruises scales liquefied biomethane deployment across European fleet

German cruise operator TUI Cruises is expanding liquefied biomethane (LBM) use across its dual-fuel fleet, with two vessels now operating entirely or substantially on the renewable fuel across European itineraries.

Mein Schiff Relax is running its complete Northern European summer season on LBM, serving Scandinavian and Baltic ports. Mein Schiff Flow has been regularly bunkering LBM in Barcelona since May 2026 and is expected to maintain the fuel across seasonal operations.

By July 2026, LBM deployment had delivered approximately 26,000 tonnes of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas savings compared with conventional marine fuel, according to chief executive Wybcke Meier. The company projects the reduction will reach approximately 50,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent by year-end.
