IN THE NEWS

Greenlane (TSX:GRN) is a pioneer in the rapidly emerging renewable natural gas (RNG) industry. We work with waste producers, gas utilities, and project developers to turn low-value biogas into a valuable low-carbon and carbon-negative clean energy resource. As a leading global provider of biogas upgrading systems, we are helping to clean up two of the largest and most difficult-to-decarbonize sectors of the global energy system: the natural gas grid and the commercial transportation sector.

Greenlane issued the following news release this week:

Greenlane announces second deployment of development capital for an RNG project

Greenlane announced its second deployment of development capital to a company focused on developing landfill gas-to-RNG projects. Greenlane is deploying pre-construction development capital in the form of a convertible note agreement with funds to be advanced on a milestone achievement basis of approximately $0.7 million (US$0.5 million). The funds will be used to progress the development company’s landfill gas-to-RNG project to construction financing, expected in late 2022. The initial project planned by the development company is located in the midwestern USA and is estimated to generate over 250,000 MMBtu annually using a Greenlane supplied biogas upgrading system. “We are rapidly moving forward with our development capital program,” said Brad Douville, President and CEO of Greenlane. “This transaction marks our second deployment and supports an innovative developer targeting the landfill gas-to-RNG space in the United States.”

Greenlane was also mentioned on BNN Bloomberg’s Market Call this week:

Greenlane is a pure play in the RNG space, offering multiple core biogas upgrading technologies, in use and proven in the industry today. Biogas upgrading sales are forecasted by industry to grow at a minimum 30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years in North America and Europe. Our demonstrated leadership in biogas upgrading, scope and breadth of product offerings, and over 30 years of industry experience are fierce competitive advantages.

Today, we are a trusted partner globally and are ranked number one in installed capacity, having sold more than 135 biogas upgrading systems into 19 countries and counting. We’ve learned a lot along the way. First to market in 12 of the 19 countries where our systems have been sold, we’re also proud to have supplied the systems for many of the largest RNG production facilities in the world.

SoCalGas began construction of a first-of-its-kind advanced hydrogen generation system at SunLine Transit Agency in Thousand Palms, Calif. The project, called H2 SilverSTARS, will produce hydrogen from RNG and help fuel SunLine’s fleet of 17 hydrogen fuel cell electric buses. At scale, this demonstration project could reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate California’s climate and clean air goals by providing clean hydrogen at any location adjacent to a natural gas pipeline. The hydrogen can meet the new Federal ‘Clean Hydrogen Standard’ for regional hydrogen hubs since it can be produced from RNG.

In Nebraska, the Omaha City Council approved a $20 million Biogas Conditioning Project that will capture the gas naturally created during the wastewater treatment process at the Papillion Creek Water Resource Recovery Facility and upgrade it into pipeline-spec RNG for the local gas utility. The city expects to generate $5 to $7 million in revenue annually through renewable energy credits, with an onstream date in 2024.
